Privacy Policy
Thread Differently (“we”, “us”, “our”) helps service businesses find the offer and audience with the most sales potential. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through threaddifferently.com, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have.
We are based in Quebec, Canada. We handle personal information in line with Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). If you are in the United States, see the section for US visitors below.
Who is responsible for your information
Thread Differently, Quebec, Canada.
Our Privacy Officer is the person in charge of the protection of personal information. You can reach them at privacy@threaddifferently.com for any question, request or complaint about your personal information.
What we collect
Information you give us
When you request a free assessment, we collect the answers you provide in the form, including:
- Contact details: your name, email address and phone number.
- Business details: your business name, website, type of business and service area.
- Information about your services: the services you sell, typical prices, how much each earns you, profit margins, volumes and capacity.
- Information about your customers and results: who buys from you, your best customers, why customers choose you, common hesitations, website visitors, enquiries, close rate, reply speed, follow-up and reviews.
- Your consent to be contacted about your request.
Most of this is information about your business rather than about you personally. Please do not include personal information about your own customers in the form.
When we publish your assessment, we create a client account for you so you can view it securely. Your account holds your name, email address, business name and phone number. If you set a password, we only store it in encrypted (hashed) form.
If you email us, we keep your messages and our replies.
Information we collect automatically
- Technical information: like any website, our servers and firewall record technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We use it to keep the site secure and working.
- Cookies: we use essential cookies to run the site and, only with your consent, analytics cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.
- Consent records: when you make a choice in our cookie banner, we keep a record of that choice, as the law requires.
Information from public sources
To prepare your assessment, our team may review your public website, your public online reviews and other publicly available information about your business. Our system also visits the website you give us to confirm its address and retrieve your public logo for your report.
Why we use your information
We use your information to:
- Prepare your preliminary assessment and send it to you.
- Create and manage your client account so you can view your assessment.
- Reply to your questions and follow up about your request.
- Improve our assessments and services, using information in aggregated form where possible.
- Protect our website, prevent spam and abuse, and meet our legal obligations.
We only collect the information we need for these purposes. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
How decisions are made
Our software suggests scores for your services, audiences and possible sales leaks based on your answers. These are only suggestions. A member of our team reviews them and prepares your assessment. No decision about you is made exclusively by automated processing.
Consent and email
By submitting the assessment form, you consent to us using your information to prepare your assessment and to contact you about it. You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to privacy@threaddifferently.com. If you withdraw it, we may not be able to complete your assessment.
We will only send you marketing emails, such as a newsletter, if you have given us express consent. Every marketing email identifies us, includes our contact details and lets you unsubscribe in one step, as required by CASL in Canada and CAN-SPAM in the United States.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run our business, and only as much as they need:
- Website hosting: WPMU DEV hosts our website and its database.
- Email: MXroute provides our email service and delivers the messages our website sends.
- Cookie consent: SureCookie provides our cookie banner and records consent choices.
- Fonts: Google Fonts provides the fonts our website uses. Your browser connects to Google’s servers to load them.
These providers must protect your information and may only use it to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our clients or the public.
Information stored outside Quebec
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Quebec, including elsewhere in Canada and in the United States. Before transferring personal information outside Quebec, we assess whether it will receive adequate protection, as Law 25 requires. Information stored in another country may be accessed by that country’s authorities under its laws.
How long we keep it
- Assessment requests and client accounts: for as long as we need them to provide our services, and up to 3 years after our last contact with you, unless you ask us to delete them sooner or you become a client.
- Client records: if you become a client, for as long as needed to provide our services and meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations.
- Cookie consent records: 365 days.
- Server and security logs: for a short period, usually a few weeks.
When we no longer need personal information, we securely destroy it or anonymize it.
How we protect it
We use reasonable security measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), a web application firewall, access limited to the people who need it, strong passwords and regular updates. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the authorities of any confidentiality incident that presents a risk of serious injury, as the law requires.
Your rights
Under Quebec and Canadian law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
- Withdraw your consent to our use of your information.
- Ask us to delete your information, or to stop disseminating it, when its use is no longer necessary or is unlawful.
- Receive your information in a structured, commonly used technological format (data portability).
- Be informed about how your information is collected, used and shared.
To make a request, use the form at the bottom of this page or write to privacy@threaddifferently.com. We may need to confirm your identity before responding. We will reply within 30 days. There is no charge for most requests.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
For US visitors
If you live in the United States, the privacy laws of your state may give you rights similar to those above, such as the right to know, access, correct or delete your personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising. To exercise your rights, use the form below or email privacy@threaddifferently.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

Our services are for businesses and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 14. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new “Last updated” date, and notify you of significant changes where the law requires it.
